Five Western Sydney Catholic students top the state in HSC courses
Bede Polding College Windsor, Gilroy Catholic College Castle Hill, Cerdon College Merrylands, Catherine McAuley Westmead and St Columba’s Catholic College Springwood are celebrating the achievements of their students who have been awarded First-in-Course at a HSC awards ceremony hosted by the Deputy Premier and Education Minister The Hon Prue Car MP on Tuesday 17 December at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

In an outstanding achievement, two students from Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CPSD) have earned First-in-Course honours for Studies of Religion I and Studies of Religion II in the 2024 HSC exams.

CSPD students shine at Australian All Schools Athletics titles
Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) students have achieved impressive results at the recent Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Brisbane. Simply qualifying for All Schools is an amazing achievement, but many CSPD students went on to secure a podium finish, proving they’re among the elite athletes in their age group.

Last week our iLive group met for the first time in Term 4. iLive is a faith-based initiative where our students explore their own faith in God. Our Guest Speaker was Sub Deacon Stefan, who covered the topic: How to Live Morally on Social Media. He gave the students three things to think about from St John, when using social media; We are children of God, do what is right and love thy neighbour. We ran out of seats, and the students were raving about it all day!

On Tuesday, in front of their peers and their parents, our College Leaders were commissioned, receiving their Leadership badges. The Leaders attended a retreat last term, where they came up with initiatives that will benefit both the College and the wider community. 👏 During her address, Ms Merryweather reflected that "leadership is not about the badge - it's about who you are, what you do and how you do it. It's about how you care for others." ❤️🩹 Parents and Leaders were then treated to a scrumptious morning tea! ☕🍰 We congratulate all our 2025 Leaders and we know you will wear your badge proudly and perform your duties whilst walking in the light of Christ. ✝️

On Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th November, the Year 7 students were lucky enough to participate in the Inquisitive Minds ‘Problems, Patterns, Pictures, Puzzles’ Workshop. The students were very enthusiastic throughout the event, eagerly embracing the challenges presented to them. This workshop provided students with an opportunity to learn a range of problem-solving strategies, including 'Make a List', 'Look for a Pattern', 'Draw a Diagram', and 'Logical Reasoning'. The most exciting part of the workshop was the Hands-on Problem Solving Activity, where the students worked in pairs and collaborated with each other to solve as many problems as possible. Prizes were awarded, and a big congratulations must go to all the winners of this competition. The Maths staff present at the workshop were thrilled to witness the high level of engagement and the vibrant mathematical conversations between students. Many students walked away with a newfound love of Maths, inspired by the excitement and fun of the workshop.
