Faith

Gilroy Catholic College is named after Cardinal Sir Norman Gilroy, the first Australian born Cardinal

In 2016, the College adopted St Mary of the Cross MacKillop as patron saint. We promote in our students a spirit of service and outreach like that of St Mary of the Cross, ‘never see a need without doing something about it’.

Students deepen and strengthen their faith through:

  • Masses and liturgies (including morning Mass held each week)
  • Daily prayer including the Angelus
  • Social justice initiatives such as St Vincent de Paul Winter and Christmas Appeals, Project Compassion and the Diocesan Works Fund Appeals
  • Retreats and reflection days
  • World Youth Day and Australian Catholic Youth Festival
  • Religious Education program (Years 7 – 10)
  • Studies of Religion I and II (NESA course, Years 11 – 12)
  • Catholic Studies (NESA course, Years 11 – 12)
